Bridget had her big 20 week ultrasound today. As far the doctor can tell the baby is “physical defect free”. We saw 10 little fingers and 10 little toes. The baby was very active because Bridget had her glucose tolerance test right before the ultrasound, so the baby was all sugared up. The baby is measuring on or a little ahead of schedule, and weights a whole 13 ounces. Unfortunately the pictures aren’t fantastic, but trust us that in person he/she looks very cute!

I went to the Philadelphia Zoo on Sunday with Mike Hagan and the Delaware County Photography Group. The weather was predicted to be thunderstorms all day, but luckily it was a mix of mostly clouds with some sun for most of the day. We didn’t get hit with any rain until about 1:30, when we were on the last few animals for the day anyway.

I got plenty of pictures (actually I took over 800 in all, but just posted the best 77 of those that I liked the most). Here are some of the highlights. You can see all of the best pictures here.

I just wanted to thank everyone for coming over this weekend to help open our deck for the season, and also to celebrate my birthday.  I know that Bridget and I both had a wonderful time and enjoyed having our family and freinds over, and I hope everyone that was able to join us had a good time too.

Well I was a little bit upset last week because all of the baby bunnies left their bunny hole from under the deck.  I knew that it was going to happen sooner or later… that they would grow too big to stay in that little hole, and would all go out and find new places of their own.  But I was concerned about them and just wanted to make sure they are ok.

Last night I saw a little chipmunk in the yard, and mom said it sometimes hides in a piece of 4″ wide PVC pipe we have under the deck… it’s an extra piece that is used for drainage, but isn’t hooked up to anything.  Well, I went looking for the chipmunk in there last night, and was suprised to see one of my bunnies in there!  And it was about 3 times as big as before, so it is doing very well, growing nicely and eating on its own.

This morning I looked in there again, and there were 2 bunnies.  I was able to get some pictures of the one before I put them back.

I got very bad news today. My Aunt Peg had a heart attack and passed away last night. She was without a doubt one of my favorite people in the world. She was kind, caring and generous-with her time and spirit. She was truly genuine in her thoughts and speech. You never had to wonder what she was thinking, all you had to do was ask. My heart and prayers go out to her children (Susan, Meral Anne, Jack, Joanne, Bobby, and Barb) and their families. If you pray, please offer up a prayer for her and her family today.

She is in the center of the top row. (I have better pictures, but I have been re-arranging my albums so I can scan them all in and it is a mess right now.)

She is in the front in the black flowered dress. This was taken at our wedding and she is surrounded by her children and their spouses.

I got a real up close and personal look at Mommy bunny today. She was in the yard this afternoon when I got home from work and took the dogs out. She immediately made a break for it and went outside of the fence so the doggies couldn’t get to here (they wanted to chase her around for fun).

But after I took the dogs back in I went back outside and was watching her eat… have to make some more milk for the baby bun buns. She seemed to not be too scared of me, letting me get to 5-8 feet away. I am sure she somehow knew I wouldn’t hurt her and was looking after the babies too.

Bridget and I wanted to let everyone (that doesn’t already know) that she is expecting! As of today, she is 15 weeks along, and our due date is set at October 4th, 2008.

Today we went in for an ultrasound. Here are some of the pictures that we got:

Everything looks great so far. The baby’s heartrate was 150 bpm, although it’s been all over the map within the normal range. The baby was very active moving his or her arms and legs.

The baby was also nice enough to give us a good look at his or her spine, and that looks good as far as the doctor could tell. We will go back again in 6 weeks for another closer look.

Well I had to go and check on the baby bunnies again this morning.  There are 4 of them in there, and all were doing very well.  Mom must have stopped by during the night to feed them, and she covered them up with some more fur.  She also ate some of the lettuce that we left out for her, so she would have plenty of milk for her babies.
