Halley’s Eye Surgery

News, Pets, Pictures

Halley had eye surgery this week performed by Dr. Gross at Metropolitan Veterinary Associates. Because of the diabetes, Halley developed very bad cataracts in both eyes, and was having a lot of difficulty seeing.  Since he would be blind in a short amount of time, and since he is still so young, we decided to have the operation so he can see again.

You can see how cloudy his eyes were just a few days ago before the surgery:

Well the operation was a complete success!  Halley’s vision will soon return to about 85-95% of what it was before he got the cataracts, and his eyes already look much better!  He is just so sad looking with the collar on to prevent him from harming his eyes:

Hail Storm

Pictures

We got some really weird weather here today… we had a summer hail storm with lots of good size chunks of hail coming down, which was about the size of large shooter marbles.

Here are some pictures:

Brian and Alicia’s Wedding Reception

Events, Friends, Pictures, Wedding

Bridget and I attended Brian and Alicia’s wedding reception at Oheka Castle on Saturday right after the beautiful ceremony in the gardens.  The reception was wonderful, with lots of great food.   And the dance floor was packed all night long, thanks to the outstanding live band (I’ll have to see if I can find a link to a video of them playing).

Brian and Alicia’s Wedding Ceremony

Events, Friends, Pictures, Wedding

Bridget and I attended Brian and Alicia’s wedding ceremony at Oheka Castle on Saturday.  Luckily the weather cleared up just in time for them to be able to have the ceremony outside overlooking the castle gardens, which was beautiful.

Oheka Castle

Events, Friends, Pictures, Vacation, Wedding

Bridget and I had the chance to stay in Oheka Castle over the last weekend for Brian and Alicia’s wedding.  The castle is the second largest private residence in the US with 109,000 square feet and 127 rooms.  It was built by Otto Kahn and was recently restored by Long Island developer Gary Melius.

Events, Friends, Pictures, Wedding

Bridget and I went to Brian and Alicia’s dinner for out of town guests at Long Island’s famous Louie’s Oyster Bar & Grille. It was nice to be able to spend some time with them before the wedding.

Madeline at Chanticleer Gardens

Friends, Nature, Pictures

Bridget and I met up with Jen, Steve and Madeline today at Chanticleer Gardens in Wayne.  The gardens there are beautiful… just as nice as Longwood Gardens, but on a smaller scale.  And it wasn’t too crowded which was nice as well.  A storm rolled in after we were there for a bit, but I managed to get lots of good pictures before that.

I got plenty of great pictures of the Madeline:

And I got a few pictures of some pretty flowers too:

Nursery is Painted!

Shea

Well I am finally finished with the task of painting the nursery!  It turned out very nicely.  Instead of the white with green and yellow stripes, we decided on a plain solid yellow color which looks nice and simple.  I am also going to paint some honey bees on the walls as well to match the honey bees on our accessories.

We found a wonderful No-VOC paint that is 0% toxic with no ingredients that are known to cause health issues or cancer.  The paint line is called Mythic.  You can purchase the paint online with free shipping if you are more then 15 miles from a dealer.  We went to a dealer in center city called Greenable, which sells various environmentally friendly building and home improvement products.

This paint is wonderful, no smell at all, and it has performed very, very well so far.

Here’s the color that we used, it’s called Sunset Dream.
